American pianist Hans Boepple is critically acclaimed as an artist who shows rich musicality alongside stunning technical command. His debut with the Los Angeles Philharmonic at age 10 set in motion collaboration with orchestras and conductors of international reputation. He is guest artist on concert series across the United States. A Steinway International Artist, Boepple has received numerous performance prizes, most notably first prize in the International J. S. Bach Competition (Washington, D.C.). He is a prizewinner in the Kosciuszko Chopin (New York) and Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) national competitions, and he is a six-time winner of the Coleman Chamber Music Award (Los Angeles). National Public Radio and Voice of America have broadcast his live performances. He recorded the complete Beethoven Bagatelles for Orion Master Recordings and a number of CDs for Kjos Music. Twice a recipient of the Joseph Battista Award (’68 and ’69) from Indiana University, his performance as winner of the Enlow Award with the Evansville Philharmonic (Indiana) was hailed as most accomplished to date. He has received the Master Teacher Certificate from the MTNA and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the California Association of Professional Music Teachers. A full-time member of the IU piano faculty (1974-78), he joined the faculty at Santa Clara University (California) in 1978 and is now Professor Emeritus of Music. A student of Robert Turner (Los Angeles) before college, Boepple earned both Bachelor and Master of Music in Piano Performance degrees from Indiana University where he studied with renowned American pianist Sidney Foster. In 1974, he was honored with the Performer’s Certificate by unanimous vote of the piano faculty. In demand as an author, judge, and master teacher, Boepple balances his own performance activities with those of a dedicated and successful teacher. He is a sought-after teacher of gifted pre-college pianists, and his students have earned a vast number of state, national, and international awards.
