Nobody knows for certain what caused the death of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791). That was a perfect starting point for countless hypotheses about the cause of death in the years that followed. The most piquant rumor was that a jealous composer colleague was behind it – Antonio Salieri (1750–1825).
