The Syracuse Orchestra opens the season joined by organ prodigy Dominic Fiacco. Enjoy Poulenc’s Organ Concerto and the powerful Saint-Saens Symphony No. 3 (Organ Symphony), performed on the spectacular pipe organ at Most Holy Rosary Church.

Featuring four works inspired by fairy tales, this concert takes you from Mother Goose to Shakespeare to Greek mythology featuring selections by Ravel, Grieg, Tchaikovsky and living composer Stacy Garrop.

The Syracuse Orchestra welcomes Cirque de la Symphonie artists, including aerial flyers, acrobats, contortionists, dancers, and jugglers. Each artist’s performance is choreographed specifically for the classical and popular contemporary music performed by The Syracuse Orchestra.

It’s an evening with classical dance themes. We begin with Kodaly’s Dances of Galanta. Listen for the sounds of Russian folk tunes and castanets when violinist Stefan Jackiw performs Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto. The program finishes with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7, which Beethoven himself spoke of fondly as “one of my best works”.

We explore the introduction of African American spirituals into classical music. The Syracuse Orchestra performs one of Coleridge-Taylor’s best-loved works, Petit Suite de Concert. The Syracuse University Oratorio Society joins for Nathaniel Dett’s The Ordering of Moses, depicting the biblical deliverance journey of the Israelites from Egypt.

Cars fly, trees fight back, and monsters are on the loose in Harry’s second year at Hogwarts™ School of Witchcraft and Wizardry! This concert features the film Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets™ in high definition, on a giant screen, while a live orchestra performs John Williams’ unforgettable score. Relive every magical moment as the music brings life to a story that has enchanted the world.

Landmark Theatre

The Syracuse Orchestra presents an evening of animal-themed music! We begin with Saint-Saens’ Carnival of the Animals and 14 animals represented through the performance of pianists Aaron Wunsch and Giancarlo Llerena. Explore the Secret of the Wind and Birds from Tan Dun, who also composed the Academy Award-winning music for “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon”. In Elgar’s Enigma Variations, listen for musical references that communicate personality traits of 14 of his friends (with a special musical homage to a friend’s beloved bulldog!)

We open the program with Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante, featuring two of The Syracuse Orchestra’s musicians: concertmaster Peter Rovit and violist Arvilla Wendland. Also enjoy a performance of Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel.
