Esther

Esther is an evening-long oratorio performed in concert style, as was customary in Handel's time. Ton Koopman has compiled a new edition especially for this performance, in which he combines elements from an early version from 1720 and a later version from 1732. This version from 1732 marks the birth of the English oratorio, a genre that did not exist before.
