Concertmaster Frank Huang solos in Mozart’s most popular violin concerto, nicknamed <em>Turkish</em> for the strings’ imitation of the drums of Ottoman soldiers. Jaap van Zweden also conducts Beethoven’s <em>Pastoral</em> Symphony, a colorful canvas of nature — complete with birds, brooks, and breezes — and Nina Shekhar’s prize-winning 2020 musical exploration of the spectrum from darkness to light.
