Heathcliff Trio

The concert's opening piece, Haydn's piano trio in E minor, is both a classical piano trio, sprung from and further developed from the earlier form "accompanied sonata", where the violin and cello are included as a kind of supplement to the keyboard instrument, and at the same time it is one of the first trios where Haydn indicates "Pianoforte", i.e. specifically the piano and not the harpsichord as the keyboard instrument.
