Joshua Bell is the soloist in Beethoven’s sublime Violin Concerto, a composition of dramatic emotional scope. Music Director Jaap van Zweden also conducts Chen Yi’s blend of a traditional song-and-dance form, mountain song, and Beijing Opera plus the suite from Stravinsky’s <em>commedia dell’arte</em>–inspired ballet <em>Pulcinella.
