Conductor Nikolai Malko was born in Ukraine in 1883, was educated at St. Petersburg and worked as both conductor and teacher, but left what had become the Soviet Union in 1929 and did not return. In return, he gained invaluable importance for e.g. The Radio Symphony Orchestra, now the DR Symphony Orchestra, here in Denmark.
