Chief Xian aTunde Adjuah (Christian Scott), is a two-time Edison Award winning and five-time Grammy Award nominated musician, composer and producer. He is the nephew of jazz innovator and legendary sax man, Donald Harrison, Jr. His musical tutelage began under the direction of his uncle at the age of thirteen. After graduating from the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA) in 2001, Adjuah received a full tuition scholarship to Berklee College of Music where he earned a degree in Professional Music and Film Scoring thirty months later.

Maria Bamford is revered for her deeply personal and experimental comedy aboutmental illness. She starred in the surreal, semi-autobiographical Netflix comedy series Lady Dynamite, about a comedian who suffers a nervous breakdown, and is the star of three unconventional hour-long stand-up specials: Weakness is the Brand,Old Baby and Maria Bamford, the special, special, special! Maria was the first female comic to have two half-hour Comedy Central Presents specials and starred alongside Patton Oswalt, Zach Galifianakis and Brian Posehn in the Comedy Central series The Comedians of Comedy and Netflix’s Comedians of Comedy: The Movie.  She also created and starred in the cult hit web series The Maria Bamford Show, in which she plays all the characters. For over 50 years Hot Tuna, Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady, have brought a wealth of emotions to their music through deep perceptions and tremendous talent. Members of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Grammy recipients, they are always injecting fresh energy into their sound with constant improvisation taking their musical horizons further. Guitarist Jorma Kaukonen and bassist Jack Casady were also at the heart of Jefferson Airplane, another iconic group with roots in the 1960s. Over the past five decades, they've released more than two dozen records as a band and many more solo projects.

After Al Stewart’s US tour in 2019 with his band The Empty Pockets, he spent most of 2020 and 2021 sidelined due the COVID-19 pandemic. But in 2022, he came back full force with a string of sold out shows in the United States and United Kingdom, and he even made his debut in Israel.  On his curent tour, he’ll continue his trek with several shows throughout the United States.  He will be playing his old favorites, like Year Of The Cat, Time Passages, On the Border, and Modern Times, along with selections from his deep catalogue.

Morril is one of the fastest-rising stand-up comics in New York City and one of the best joke writers in the scene today. He was a regular on Comedy Central’s This Week at the Comedy Cellar, where he appeared on frequently when not touring cities across the nation. Alton Brown was directing TV commercials when he got the crazy idea to go to culinary school and reinvent the cooking show. The result was Good Eats, an irreverent, science-forward program that kept Brown gainfully employed for over twenty years. Along the way he also hosted iconic programs like Iron Chef America, Food Network Star, and Cutthroat Kitchen. Brown’s live culinary variety shows have toured to sold-out crowds across the country since 2013.

After 50 years and more than 50 million records sold, Jim Croce’s legacy as an iconic singer/ songwriter is firmly cemented. A.J. Croce, a Billboard charting singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and performer, is once again bringing Jim’s classic songs to the stage — and introducing his own new music along the way. After 10 studio albums and 30 years of touring the world establishing his own career, in the early 2000’s, A.J. taught himself guitar and several of his father’s (Jim’s) classics. The show featured two generations of Croce music and many songs by other artists which connect father and son as performers. Have you ever tried to navigate a space that is continuously changing? This is the conceptual foundation for choreographer Johan Inger. In his piece Walking Mad, he takes inspiration from a changing environment, perhaps symbolizing an interesting balancing act of life. Alejandro Cerrudo will premier his first ballet for Charlotte and feature two additional favorites PACOPEPEPLUTO and Cloudless that explore the realm of self-expression, enveloped in the illusion of nudity and adding an extra layer of artistic authenticity.

Charlotte Symphony: Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2

Joel Ross has amassed a dedicated following by creating music you have to lean into. That doesn’t make it any less palatable, but across the vibraphonist’s recorded output — 2019’s KingMaker, 2020’s Who Are You?, and 2022’s The Parable of the Poet — the compositions were somewhat complex, and ushered the virtuosity of his band’s live performance to a studio setting. For nublues, his remarkable fourth release as a leader for Blue Note, Ross challenged himself to create an album with a greater degree of accessibility — still intricate and adventurous, but with a strong emphasis on melody, ballads, and the blues. On purpose, nublues feels familiar, like you’ve already heard these songs in Greenwich Village somewhere. Though there are covers on this LP (John Coltrane’s “equinox” and “central park west”; Thelonious Monk’s “evidence”), this collection of newly written material exemplifies the bandleader’s evolution.

In September 2019, The Sol Kitchen introduced Charlotte to the first full-time Black Symphony Orchestra for a sold-out concert that merged 90s Hip Hop and R&B with orchestral arrangements. In 2022, that same orchestra returned for a dynamic collaboration with the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra that traveled through time—from Bach to Biggie.

Dancing with the Stars of Charlotte has it all! The excitement, the glitz, the fancy footwork AND an important cause! Local stars, paired with professional dancers, perform ballroom dance numbers that are scored by judges from the competitive dance world while audience members vote for their favorite star by making donations which will help those living in the greater Charlotte region. We are thrilled to announce this year's beneficiaries: Go Jen Go Foundation, Novant Health's Agnes Binder Weisiger Breast Health Center, and The Katie Blessing Foundation. Each dollar donated is equivalent to one vote. Molly Grantham and NFL star Kurt Coleman emcee the show. At the end of the night, a mirror ball trophy is given to the top fundraiser, the biggest crowd pleaser, and the highest-scoring dancer.

Under the direction of conductor Ian Passmore the Youth Symphony will present Dvorak’s masterwork New World Symphony.  The Youth Camerata orchestra will perform Faures captivating musical suite based on the tragedy of Pelléas et Mélisande. Under the direction of Katie Ebert our Philharmonic orchestra will perform an exciting mix of new and classic works for youth orchestras.
