Peter Hook & The Light have announced a mammoth run of dates for 2024 taking in full tours of Australia and New Zealand, North America and the UK and Ireland. The live dates will see the band play the Substance albums by Joy Division and New Order in full.

It is over 30 years since the release of the first BJM single She Made Me / Evergreen. Five years after No Treasure but Hope (2019) and three years after 2021’s Distractions, Tindersticks return with new album ‘Soft Tissue’ to be released on City Slang on October 13th 2024. “New World”, the first track written for Soft Tissue and a springboard for the album’s thematic concerns about personal/public worlds knocked off-kilter. The arrangements pick up close to where 2016’s The Waiting Room left off and steer the record into febrile terrain, balanced between the band letting loose,  Julian Siegel’s brass arrangements, Dan McKinna’s string arrangements and Gina Foster’s soulful backing vocals. Meanwhile, Staples’s introspective reflections lead to a refrain that takes a more outward-looking slant, flagged up on a banner in the song’s playful promo video: “I won’t let my love become my weakness.” The video, as well as the albums sleeve made with Staples’ artist daughter Sidonie Osborne Staples.

 In 2024, we played the Electric Picnic for the 1st time ever at a jam PACKED Salty Dog stage and this was one of the highlights so far. Then to head off to Australia for a sold out tour was another, only to have to come back earlier than planned as we were guests of COLDPLAY for 2 amazing gigs in Croke park to 82,000 people a night, yes that was most definitely another one of our highlights! We have been to the UK for some shows.

Another outrageous character is the “mother of the child” (Faye Shortt) at the school railings waiting to pick up her child PJ, it’s not like her at all to talk bad about anyone but she just can’t help herself, sharing her views on the school principal and her tummy tucking friend back from Turkey.

Almost two years on from the release of his fourth studio album Blood Moon, GRAMMY-nominated artist and producer RY X has announced details of his upcoming European tour, which now includes a show in 3Olympia Theatre on 25th March 2025.

Loreen has announced her juggernaut 2025 UK & European tour kicking off in Netherlands on 15 February with 20 stops across Europe before she makes her way to Birmingham on 17 March, a headline show at London’s iconic Eventim Apollo on 19 March before continuing onto Liverpool, Manchester, Bristol and Glasgow before wrapping in Dublin Ireland at 3Olympia on 27 March.

Dunford’s public chronicle of home creates vivid portraits of real people, the persistent spirit of community and a sense of completely unfiltered emotion. Latest single from the album, ‘Billy Flynn of Bethnal Green,’ was inspired by a friend of his father, a former East End boxer who found a new identity in Soho’s drag scene. Meanwhile, also taken from the album, ‘The Local’ celebrates a historic love for the pub and the many characters it houses each weekend. With no airs and graces, Dunford explains, “I wanted it to capture the antics, the sense of community – it’s where I go when I’m up, down, or somewhere in between.”

Polari is a pop album for the ages, looking back on history as a means to learn more about yourself. Olly Alexander’s first album under his own name takes as its primary inspiration the (almost) lost art of Polari. Originating around Europe and the Romani community as early as the 1600s, this coded slang became in effect a secret language for homosexuals and the stigmatized during the twentieth century. It’s a concept Olly first came across when coming out and resonated more deeply with when playing Richie in ‘It’s A Sin’, where he grappled with questions about identity, self-expression and community. The kinds of which have always populated British life and have long been threaded through the history of pop music - you just had to know where to look.

The Vancouver quartet – Neil Smith [vocals] , Chris Vanderkooy [guitar], Peter Wilton [bass] and Mikey Pascuzzi [drums] – is indeed in fine form on the new single “Magpie,” for which they conjured a character “who lives in the gutter, who’s always boozing and chasing a high and feels like he’s got his shit together because they’ll still let him sit at the strip club bar,” per Smith, who was messing around atop a drum beat when he wrote the verse. “In some ways it’s who I felt I might end up like if I never quit drinking. I had two paths ahead of me in life: one good and one bad. The song ended up a Wings-esque, Paul McCartney rock song, or, our take on one at least.”
