In the midst of an uncertain time of war, crises and natural disasters, the Norwegian composer Kim Arnesen has created a moving and gripping work that unfolds the beauty that exists in the world despite everything. Tuvayhun is a breathtaking and colorful musical universe where different musical traditions from the old to the new, from the heavenly to the earthly and from the Western to the Oriental meet and reinforce each other.

With two collections of songs composed by George Butterworth and Gerald Finzi, we move into a British landscape with hedges, rolling hills and small idyllic villages. Butterworth composed “Love Blows as the Wind Blows” with strong inspiration from English folk music, and Finzi sets “Let us Galands Bring” to music for texts by William Shakespeare, which are about death and love and everything in between.

Randers Chamber Orchestra

Richard Wagner created large monumental operas, where music and performing arts merge into a higher, grand unity. With Siegfred-idyll, the Randers Chamber Orchestra presents the German composer from a different and more intimate side. Wagner composed the work as a morning gift, which was first played privately on December 25, 1870, on his wife Cosima's birthday. Siegfred-idyll was Wagner's declaration of love for both Cosima, his newborn son Siegfred, and the nature of the Swiss mountains, where the family had settled.

Life And Destiny

One of the young talents of Danish music – the Randrusian Magnus Plejdrup – will perform as guest conductor in a program with three symphonies by Leopold Mozart, WA Mozart and Franz Schubert. Magnus Plejdrup is educated as a composer and conductor at the Jutland Conservatory of Music and has also studied conducting at the Royal Conservatory of Scotland in Glasgow. He is the leader of the Aarhus Chamber Orchestra and has conducted the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and the Scottish Opera orchestra during his studies in Glasgow. Magnus Plejdrup was awarded the Léonie Sonning Talent Prize in 2022 and received the audience prize at the Randers Chamber Orchestra's composer competition in 2021 with the work "Randers".

Three Symphony

The flute was possibly one of the first instruments of ancient times. With the help of air and a tube, the first notes and the first music were created. Today, the flute is found in countless versions and variations. Together with the big band Blood Sweat Drum + Bass, the Randers Chamber Orchestra explores the extraordinary potential of the bamboo flute in collaboration with the two orchestras in a series of new works and arrangements composed by Jens Chr. Chappe Jensen, who is the leader of the big band.

Winter Jazz

Three Saturdays during February, March and April 2025, the Randers Chamber Orchestra invites the audience from the street to the first floor of the Helligåndshuset. Here, there is free coffee on the pot, while the orchestra's musicians play a small bouquet of catchy samples from the repertoire. Enjoy the good music in a relaxed and unpretentious atmosphere as a good start to the weekend. Admission is free.

Together with the Chamber Music Association Brage, Randers Kammerorkester presents the young pianist Rune Leicht Lund, who was born and raised in Randers. Rune Leicht Lund was only 12 years old when he first played with the Chamber Orchestra as a soloist in Beethoven's second piano concerto. Since then, he has given concerts with, among others, the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra, the Torun Symphony Orchestra and the Staatskapelle Weimar, and he has performed in, among others, the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Rheingau Music Festival, the Laeiszhalle Hamburg, the Tivoli Concert Hall and the DR Koncerthuset. He is currently studying at Musik und Kunst, Privatunivesität der Stadt Wien.

Randrusian Piano Talent

Through four seasons, Danish nature lives its own life. Not always as we would like it to, but with great variations from warm and hot summer days to fierce winds and storm surges to snow and icy frost. Through Danish song, Randers Chamber Orchestra, Nordic Vocal Ensemble and lecturer Anette Kjær describe nature, weather and wind, as it unfolds in the Danish landscape. The concert alternates between group singing, choral singing and instrumental interpretations of the Danish songs.

The New Year's concerts in January 2025 will be particularly festive with two star soloists - soprano Louise McClelland and tenor Anders Kampmann. With David Riddell on the conductor's podium, a fireworks display of a concert with catchy arias and duets for soprano and tenor is in the works.

Randers Chamber Orchestra plays Christmas and winter music from the time when Bach wrote his Christmas Oratorio and Handel composed Messiah. With the young German soprano Marlene Metzger and the Chinese violinist Mo Yi as soloists, the concert includes works such as Winter from Vivaldi's The Four Seasons and the Italian Scarlatti's Pastoral Cantata for the Nativity of Our Lord. The program also includes Corelli's Christmas Concerto and Bach's Cantata No. 51 for soprano, orchestra and solo trumpet.

Randers schools' 4th graders gather on stage for two concerts in Værkets Store Sal and sing Christmas together with the Randers Chamber Orchestra. The family Christmas concert has been a regular Christmas tradition every December for more than 30 years. Hans Dueholm is the emcee, and David Riddell is on the conductor's podium.

Eight churches will be visited during December by the Randers Chamber Orchestra, which will play an atmospheric Christmas concert with mezzo-soprano Andrea Pellegrini as soloist. Titled “Christmas has an angelic sound”, the concert embraces 300 years of Christmas music from the enchanting and virtuoso arias from Bach’s Christmas Oratorio to the beautiful songs from the Romantic period to music of today. Based on Danish Christmas carols, there are also surprises from other corners of the world.

Randers Chamber Orchestra marks with this concert the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Danish composer Axel Borup-Jørgensen. Borup-Jørgensen had a strong and distinctive voice in Danish music life. He created music that was modern and on the edge of time, but which was also inspired by nature, and which creates a diversity of inner images on the retina of the listener.

Randers Chamber Orchestra invites children and their adults to a concert in Værkets Koncertsal. In collaboration with Randers Musikskole, the Chamber Orchestra opens the door to the wonderful world of live music with real live musicians on stage.

Experience two parallel worlds – the symphonic and the chamber music – when the Randers Chamber Orchestra, in collaboration with the Jutland Academy of Music, first plays Johannes Brahms' Piano Quartet No. 1 and then Arnold Schönberg's loyal symphonic version of the same work.

2 X Brahms

For 27 years, JS Bach composed music for the church services in the Thomaskirche in Leipzig every Sunday and holiday. From Sunday to Sunday, he created one masterpiece after another. It must have been a very special experience to be part of the congregation. In total, more than 200 cantatas were composed.

In the beginning was the word, but in Joseph Haydn's oratorio The Creation for choir, orchestra and three vocal soloists, it is primarily the notes and music that describe the beginning of the entire universe from darkness to light and from chaos to order. All in just seven days.

The Italian warmth, passion and sense of the beauty of life unfold fully in two works by Felix Mendelssohn and Peter Tchaikovsky. Mendelssohn was inspired for his fourth symphony during several trips to, among others, Venice, Rome and Naples, while Tchaikovsky was in Florence when he wrote the first sketches for Souvenir de Florence - "a memory of Florence".

Two singers from Aarhus Summer Opera will perform on Værkets Amphitheater when the Randers Chamber Orchestra invites the audience to a festive Festugekoncert. The program includes both musical hits and the best arias from the world of opera.

Randers Chamber Orchestra will once again play a coffee concert for the Randrusian pensioners. With Annette Heick as soloist, a pleasant afternoon with good music and coffee on the pot is planned. In 2024, Annette Heick was in the role of Elisabeth Friis in the musical version of Matador, but has made her mark on the Danish music scene for many years in everything from musicals to Melodi Grand Prix. David Riddell will be the conductor.

Randers Chamber Orchestra shows up in small groups of three to five musicians who are looking forward to visiting. The home concerts are for anyone who has a place to stay and wants to give friends, neighbors or colleagues a very special experience. It is free for a few visits by Randers Chamber Orchestra.

Aarhus Symphony Orchestra, in collaboration with Randers Chamber Orchestra, marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of the French Maurice Ravel. Ravel's magical sound world is fully expressed in the three works on the program. From the fairy tale in Ma mere l'Oye to the fiery and colorful temperament in Tzigane - where Fedor Rudin is the violin soloist - to the luminous sunrise and the fine love dances in Daphnis and Chloé.
