These talented young artists, ages 12-18, study opera, musical theater and art songs, and perform regularly at SF Opera and other community events throughout the year.  Coming from different schools and backgrounds, these artists form an ensemble that collaborates in all its artistic feats. The intimate space of an art song recital allows us to reflect on our romantic experiences, from successes to failures, heartbreaks to breakthroughs. This program focuses on female composers and poets, showcasing their work in English. Come join us in celebrating the essence of being human.

The Jeff Denson/Mimi Fox duo is a powerful coupling of two virtuoso musicians who are at the height of their creative talent. The marriage of guitar and bass in these two artists’ hands sounds more like an entire ensemble rather than two musicians. Denson’s expressive and powerful tenor vocals adds another dimension to the duo’s range and repertoire. With their passion, musicianship, and wealth of original compositions, as well as their unique treatment of standard and not-so-standard fare, this is a special duo not to be missed.

Critically acclaimed and award-winning baritone Eugene Brancoveanu presents an enchanting evening of song and story- telling as he unfolds Schumann’s classic song cycle, Dichterliebe, and a collection of other pieces. Composed by Robert Schumann in 1840, Dichterliebe (A Poet’s Love) is the sublime setting of the Lyriches Intermezzo of poet Heinrich Heine (written in 1822-23), coming together in a 16-piece song cycle. Other program highlights include Finzi’s Let us Garlands Bring and Ravel’s Don Quichote a Dulcinee.
