Philharmonie Südwestfalen

Philharmonie Südwestfalen, as a concert orchestra, cultivates the classical, romantic, and modern concert repertoire, but in recent years has also garnered attention for its open-minded programming. Contemporary works are performed alongside the "rediscovered" Baroque music. In 2007, two commissioned works (by Iris ter Schiphorst and Gerhard Stäbler) were premiered. Traditionally, the orchestra accompanies numerous concert choirs—not only in the region—and readily accepts invitations to perform as a guest orchestra at major opera houses in North Rhine-Westphalia (Düsseldorf, Essen, Cologne, Bonn) and in concerts with renowned vocalists.
