From November 9th to 11th, the Mozarteum Guitar Festival will take place at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg – three days dedicated to the classical guitar. The program includes an international guitar competition, master classes with renowned artists, a chamber music competition, Erasmus master classes, and an exhibition of guitar makers.

From November 9th to 11th, the Mozarteum Guitar Festival will take place at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg – three days dedicated to the classical guitar. The program includes an international guitar competition, master classes with renowned artists, a chamber music competition, Erasmus master classes, and an exhibition of guitar makers.

The festival will be complemented by lectures by international musicologists, offering diverse perspectives on guitar music and its history. This year's focus will be on the Brazilian guitar repertoire, which will be celebrated for its distinctive character and musical diversity.

The university's new building will be musically revived for the first time. Four groups (Sirius, Polarstern, Canopus, Arktur) will each occupy three rooms, performing Stockhausen's Zodiac Signs and Telemann's Solo Fantasies for Viola da Gamba, Flute, and Violin. Guest musicians from Seoul National University, South Korea, will play traditional instruments and collaborate with students in workshops throughout the festival week. Actors will accompany the audience through the promenade concert.

The masterclass explores the development of the Romantic style of playing, both as a continuation of and a break with Viennese Classicism. The renowned Norwegian musician and university professor Are Sandbakken has been invited as a guest.

This year, the series of impressive orchestral concerts conducted by Ion Marin continues at the Haus für Mozart. On October 21, the maestro will perform two important and well-known works of orchestral literature with the Junior Symphony Orchestra of the Mozarteum University Salzburg. On October 22, the program will be heard in the Max Schlereth Hall under the direction of conducting students.

This event, featuring the Mozarteum vocal Ensemble and the Capella dell'halla, opens the new Alpine Baroque concert series at Salzburg Cathedral. The title "On Galleries and Balconies" derives from the historical custom of the 17th century, when vocal and instrumental groups were distributed throughout the nave following the Italian model. This results in exciting spatial sound effects in works by Salzburg Cathedral Kapellmeister Andreas Hofer and HIF Biber.

In this interim period, in which what has been established so far proves hollow and cruel, but no future appears in sight, the present transforms into a nightmarish haunted house, marked by diffuse fear and feelings of powerlessness. In Leonce and Lena – a Nightmare Game, five Leonces struggle for orientation and stability. In doing so, they fight against the paralysis of the frantic standstill, between boredom and sensory overload. They are both prisoners and prison guards in their own nightmare. To escape their isolation, they dream of other people who are supposed to satisfy their needs for love, sexuality, and friendship. But these apparitions develop a life of their own, resisting the Leonces' demands and questioning their identity. Are the Leonces afraid of the monsters, or are they themselves the monstrous products of the interim period?

The Master's program in Wind Orchestra Conducting is a state-of-the-art, comprehensive, and practice-oriented program, and is demonstrated through contemporary original compositions and symphonic arrangements for wind instruments.
