You're surely familiar with The Magic Flute or Eine kleine Nachtmusik (A Little Night Music ): These masterpieces were written by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, who composed over 600 pieces in total. Even as a small child, "Wolferl" created truly great music. In the Children's Festival's family concert, you can get to know the Mozart family of musicians and experience a humorous journey through the world-famous composer's most famous works.

Bedřich Smetana's most famous work depicts a symphonic journey along the Vltava River: The river rises from gently murmuring springs, visits dancing nymphs in the moonlight, flows through raging rapids, and finally disappears majestically into the Elbe. The piece was written in 1874, when the composer was already completely deaf. With your ears pricked, you can embark on an exciting river cruise at this family concert!

Engelbert Humperdinck's musical setting of the fairy tale Hansel and Gretel, premiered in 1893 , remains one of the most popular and frequently performed operas worldwide. The exciting story of the wicked witch and the world-famous children's songs make the work extremely popular even today. The Salzburg Children's Festival presents this late-Romantic opera in an abridged version, featuring fun interactive opportunities for all ages.

Cellist Matthias Bartolomey and violinist and mandola player Klemens Bittmann take their classically rooted instrumentation – cello, violin, and mandola – onto a new path. They combine the spontaneity and improvisation of jazz aesthetics with pulsating and powerful rock elements. Their love of groove and challenging sounds, their respect for the instrument, and their fascination with time are the central elements of their art. Bartolomey-Bittmann can and does not want to make music exclusively: Look forward to dance, movement, sound, and emotion. The musicians present their program "Best of BB" together with the string orchestra of the Salzburg Philharmonic.

We are in the Spanish city of Seville at the end of the 18th century, more than 200 years ago. The cheerful barber Figaro helps Count Almaviva to win over the pretty Rosina. But that is not so easy. Because Rosina, whose parents are no longer alive, is raised by a foster father, old Dr. Bartolo. He guards her closely because he is after Rosina's money and therefore wants to marry her himself. But Figaro has some ideas how he can help Count Almaviva to become happy. Some disguises, mix-ups and love letters follow, until finally there is a happy ending.

Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year for Christl. She works at the Christkindl Post Office and collects the children's wish letters. Her boss, Toni, is an expert on Christmas traditions. But then it happens: A letter with a special wish has disappeared – and so close to Christmas! Can the wish still be granted? This family concert, with plenty of opportunities to participate, promises a fun way to get into the Christmas spirit.

Luckily, his wife, Jetty, is there: She not only shows him how to dance, but also inspires the "dapper Schani" with some hilarious ideas... In this entertaining family concert, you can watch the maestro compose, attend a masked ball, and learn how to waltz!

Welcome to a carnivalesque evening full of lively rhythms and magnificent orchestration! The concert begins with Dvořák's sparkling Carnival Overture , followed by two lively overtures by Johann Strauss. Solo violinist Hanan Santos brings Paganini's virtuoso Carnival of Venice to a brilliant climax. The concert continues with Berlioz's fiery Roman Carnival Overture , which captures the festive atmosphere of Rome.

Antonín Dvořák's Symphony No. 9 is one of the absolute pinnacles of musical Romanticism. These student concerts tell the story of Marie, who emigrates to New York with her parents. Somewhat lost in the big city, she meets a taxi driver, Tony, by chance. After a few detours and despite the New York rush hour, he finally leads her safely to the Statue of Liberty—the symbol of the New World. In these student concerts, you can listen to Dvořák's world-famous sounds and dream of embarking on new journeys. A return trip guaranteed!

From ecstatic dance to yearning melancholy to exuberant joie de vivre: Klezmer music, an instrumental festival music, originates in the "shtetls" of the Jewish communities of Eastern Europe and captivates with its immense emotional range. Originally played to accompany Jewish festivals, klezmer will be performed in this evening concert by solo clarinetist Filip Brezovšek and the Salzburg Philharmonic Orchestra in a concert setting.
