Leipzig, Germany
The history of the Schola Cantorum reaches back to its founding by the Leipzig music educator Reinhardt Syhre in 1963. In the 1960s and 1970s the then children's and youth choir regularly joined the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra under Kurt Masur in Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, while its members took part in more than thirty productions of the Leipzig opera house. The singers also represented the city of Leipzig successfully at national and international competitions; numerous radio and record productions arose, along with collaborations with conductors such as Herbert Blomstedt and Georg Christoph Biller.
