Église Saint-Milliau

Over the course of the 18th century, the cello gradually gained status as a solo instrument, but the repertoire for the instrument alone remained fairly limited until the end of the Romantic era. From the Baroque period, apart from a few compositions from the Bologna and Naples schools, the most notable are the suites by Johann Sebastian Bach. Initially regarded as progressive studies, they would become major pieces of the repertoire. A sought-after teacher and one of the most renowned performers, Christophe Coin will play the Fourth and Fifth Suites as well as pieces by Dall'Abaco, Gabrielli & Supriani.

Bach, among others

Église Saint-Efflam

Improvisation, virtuosity & expressiveness: three cardinal virtues that Johann Sebastian Bach, the "great master" of the viol player Karl Friedrich Abel, passed on to his pupil. Abel, the last viol prodigy to emerge on the European stage in the 1770s, is above all the vehicle of a sensitive intimacy, the very quality that led his illustrious predecessor to use the instrument in the most heart-wrenching moments of his Passions. With the commitment & sensitivity that characterize her playing, Lucile Boulanger traces here the path of this exquisite lineage.

Bach / Abel

Concert by the Kitgut Quartet and Eloy Orzaiz: string quartets by Haydn (Op. 33) and Schubert (No. 7), and Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4 transcribed for piano and string quartet.
