West Texas Symphony

Midland, TX, United States

West Texas Symphony enriches lives through professional music performances and music education programs. Unique among similar orchestras in the United States, it comprises a symphony orchestra, adult chorale, youth choir, and three resident instrumental ensembles. Under the direction of Music Director and Conductor Gary Lewis, the symphony orchestra features over 70 professional musicians and is ranked by the League of American Orchestras as a metropolitan orchestra. This distinction makes it one of the largest professional performing arts organizations in West Texas. The instrumental ensembles—Lone Star Brass, Permian Basin String Quartet, and West Texas Winds—perform with the symphony as principal musicians and participate in various events, including annual recitals, in-school concerts, and community engagements. The Chorale and Voices of the Permian Basin Youth Choir rehearse weekly and perform throughout the season.
