Broadway In Detroit is a prominent organization in the realm of live theatre, with a rich history that dates back to 1912. The organization's origins can be traced to David Tobias D.T. Nederlander, who began operating the original Detroit Opera House alongside the Shubert Brothers. Over the years, the Nederlander family expanded their influence in the Detroit area, managing venues such as the Shubert Theatre, the Cass Theatre, and the Riviera. A significant milestone in the organization's history was the 1961 renovation of the Fisher Theatre, which transformed it into a legitimate Broadway house and resulted in the largest subscription base in the country at that time. The Nederlander organization grew to become a major force on Broadway, at one point overseeing nine Broadway theatres, with operations extending across the United States, Canada, and Great Britain. The family's influence in the theatre industry is illustrated by a photograph of D.T. Center with his five sons: Robert, Fred, James, Joe, and Harry. In 2021, Broadway In Detroit entered a new chapter by becoming part of The Ambassador Theatre Group (ATG). Under ATG's leadership, Broadway In Detroit has continued its tradition of presenting top-tier Broadway productions at the Fisher Theatre, as well as other local venues including the Detroit Opera House and Music Hall. The organization has a history of featuring renowned Broadway talents such as Carol Channing, Zero Mostel, Robin Givens, Richard Chamberlain, Molly Ringwald, and John O’Hurley. Notably, the Fisher Theatre has been the site for world tour premieres of Broadway hits like "Hello Dolly," "Fiddler On The Roof," and "Sweet Charity," as well as the launch of numerous national tours. Broadway In Detroit is dedicated to offering a diverse range of Broadway productions and performances, with a commitment to diversity and equality. The organization's ethos, "A Stage for Everyone," emphasizes the importance of inclusivity and the celebration of differences, aiming to make their venues symbols of these ideals within the community. ==Ambassador Theatre Group== The Ambassador Theatre Group, founded in 1992, is a global leader in live theatre.
