Emerging in the 1990s, the band chose to navigate the music industry on their own terms, leveraging the Internet to connect with their growing fan base. They pioneered a grassroots approach to band development, establishing their own ticketing, merchandise, and fan travel companies to better serve their community. Their record label, SCI Fidelity Records, embraced downloadable music and file sharing early on, making every show available for download through their On The Road series.

Beyond their immediate community, The String Cheese Incident has been instrumental in supporting not-for-profit organizations like Conscious Alliance and HeadCount. They were among the first to promote Green shows and tours, reflecting their broader commitment to social and environmental causes. The 30th Anniversary Incident on December 31 will celebrate this momentous milestone with a deep dive, musically weaving three separate decades of Cheese together throughout three sets – one decade per set – taking you through depths of the band’s multi-faceted history as we ring in the New Year.
