The Western Front: Christmas 1914. Out of the violence of World War I, a silence, then a song. A German soldier steps into No Man’s Land singing “Stille Nacht.” Thus begins an extraordinary night of camaraderie, music, and peace. Defying orders to charge across the barbed wire and trenches into the face of machine gun fire, soldiers on both sides come together in a truce to trade and sing, finding a moment of peace in the midst of terrible war. An adaptation of Mary Shelley's classic novel, in which the story of Frankenstein is interwoven with elements of Shelley's own life and the origin of the Frankenstein legend. Victor Frankenstein seeks to conquer Death, bringing life to flesh through his mastery of alchemy and galvanism, but his actions have disastrous and unforeseen consequences. The Creature leaves death in its wake in this tragic Gothic horror as the dangers of arrogance and unchecked hubris meet the rapid technological development of the early 18th century. At the same time, Mary Shelley tells this story in the famed Villa Diodati to her poet husband, Percy, and their companions, Claire Claremont, John Polidori, and the dangerous Lord Byron.

Frankenstein

Based on the smash hit 1991 Disney animated feature and dating back to a late 18th-century classic French fairy tale, Beauty and the Beast tells the story of Belle, a beautiful and intelligent young woman who feels out of place in her provincial French village. When her father is imprisoned in a mysterious castle, Belle’s attempt to rescue him leads to her capture by the Beast, a grisly and fearsome monster, who was long ago trapped in his gruesome form by an enchantress. The only way for the Beast to become human once again is if he learns to love and be loved in return. There is a time limit, too: once a magical rose loses all of its petals, all hope will be lost, and he will stay a Beast forever. The Beast’s enchanted household--populated by such beloved characters as Mrs. Potts, Lumiere, Cogsworth, and Chip--watch anxiously as Belle and the Beast grow to understand and befriend one another. Their feelings grow ever deeper as the clock ticks and petals continue to fall off the enchanted rose--will they confess their love for one another before it is too late?

Governors, senators, mayors, and even victorious college football teams frequent Miss Mona’s cozy bordello, until that Puritan watchdog Melvin P. Thorpe focuses his television cameras and his righteous indignation on the institution. Sheriff Ed Earl Dodd must contend between doing his official duty as a lawkeeper and doing what is right, while keeping his relationship with Miss Mona under wraps. Secrets! Scandals! Hypocrisy! Did you know that Texas has a whorehouse in it?! *Gasp*
