Guitarist, arranger, and educator Dr. Andy Jurik actively explores the intersection of classical and popular music. He has presented his research in classical/jazz fusion and contemporary improvisation at the Guitar Foundation of America Convention and the Dublin Guitar Symposium. Past notable performances include appearances at the Southern Exposure series, Wired Music series, ArtFields Festival, Radford University International Guitar Festival, Clemson University Guitar Festival, Rochester Classical Guitar, Austin Peay State University Guitarfest, Clifton Cultural Arts Center, Southern Guitar Festival, North American Saxophone Alliance Regional Conference, Carnegie Mellon University, and Brevard College.

The U.S. Army Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps, “Official Escort to the President,” is a U.S. Army premier band permanently stationed at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall, VA. Members perform using musical instruments and wear uniforms similar to those worn by military musicians of the Continental Army during the American Revolution. The Fife and Drum Corps performs ceremonies at official military and government events at the White House, Pentagon, Arlington National Cemetery, and Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall. The Fife and Drum Corps also supports the Army’s mission by traveling nationally and internationally to perform shows, parades, and special events.

A Japanese solo trombonist active worldwide, Yu Tamaki Hoso is a chamber and orchestra musician, educator, entrepreneur, published author, and producer. Yu currently resides in Denmark and serves as an official artist for Pro Arte Musicae of Tokyo, S.E. Shires Company of Boston, and Willie's Custom Brass of Yamanashi, as well as Music Director of FukuTama Festival in Shimane.

Sun-Joo Oh and guests Faculty Voice Recital

Justin Cook is the Assistant Professor of Trombone at the University of Central Arkansas where he teaches studio trombone, trombone choir, brass ensembles, low brass methods, and directs the Jazz Repertory Ensemble. Prior to his appointment at UCA, Dr. Cook was on the faculties of Tarleton State University, Eastfield College, and the University of North Texas. In addition to his college teaching, Justin has been on staff at the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in Twin Lake, Michigan, Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps in Rockford, Illinois, and is currently the Festival Manager for the International Trombone Festival and Auditor Coordinator for the Southeast Trombone Symposium.
