==Columbia University School of the Arts== Columbia University School of the Arts, a prestigious institution located in New York City, is dedicated to the advancement of the arts through education and practice. The School, which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2015, offers the Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in Film, Theatre, Visual Arts, and Writing, as well as the Master of Arts (MA) degree in Film and Media Studies. It also features an interdisciplinary program in Sound Art and upholds a strong commitment to undergraduate education in the arts with majors in Creative Writing, Film and Media Studies, and Visual Arts leading to the Bachelor of Arts, awarded by Columbia College and the School of General Studies. The School has established a collaboration with Roundabout Theatre Company through the ColumbiaRoundabout initiative, which is designed to educate and develop the next generation of playwrights and theatre administrators. This initiative, supported by a grant from The Tow Foundation, includes programs such as the New Play Reading Series at Roundabout’s Black Box Theatre and provides mentorship from celebrated Columbia faculty members like David Henry Hwang, Lynn Nottage, and Charles L. Mee. Additionally, it offers paid apprenticeships to Columbia MFA students, allowing them to gain hands-on experience in the theatre industry. The School of the Arts is thoroughly integrated into the arts world of New York City, leveraging its location to offer students and faculty unparalleled opportunities for engagement with the city's cultural landscape. The School also strives to be a responsible neighbor in its Morningside Heights and Manhattanville locations on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Under the leadership of Sarah Cole, Interim Dean of Faculty, the School of the Arts continues to foster a community of artists working at the height of their fields, with faculty and alumni frequently recognized with prestigious awards such as Academy, Emmy, and Tony Awards, MacArthur Foundation Fellowships, Guggenheim Fellowships, Pulitzer Prizes, National Book Awards, and the Nobel Prize for Literature.
