Join us for the grand finale of the San Francisco International Piano Festival, a celebration that brings the festival full circle with a special program of musical cycles that mirror those in nature. This event, presented in collaboration with Lieder Alive, will unite the glory of the voice with the wonders of the piano.

**Program Highlights:**

- **Claude Debussy's Six épigraphes antiques for piano duet:** This piece invokes the god Pan, gives voice to an anonymous tomb, conjures a mysterious Egyptian woman, and offers thanks for the morning rain before reprising Pan's invocation.
  
- **Gabriel Fauré's La Bonne Chanson Op.61:** Inspired by Emma Bardac, a celebrated French singer who later became Madame Claude Debussy, this passionate and life-affirming work weaves nine songs with subtly recurring motifs, creating an atmosphere of improvisation. The final song, "L'hiver a cessé," is one of Fauré's most inspired and ecstatic creations.
  
- **Florent Schmitt's Trois Rhapsodies Op.53 for two pianos:** A student of Fauré, Schmitt achieved a masterful blend of wit, infectious charm, and virtuosity in this work. Each rhapsody presents a larger-than-life tableau of national styles of the period: Française, Polonaise, and Viennoise.

Gwendolyn Mok, celebrated for her authoritative interpretations of French piano music, will work with gifted young artists to explore the intricacies of classical masterpieces. Born in New York City, Ms. Mok has graced many of the world's leading concert halls, including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and Davies Symphony Hall. She has performed with major international orchestras such as the London Symphony and the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra.

Ms. Mok's extensive discography includes acclaimed recordings of Ravel's Piano Concerto in G Major and Saint-Saëns’s Africa Fantasy for Piano and Orchestra. She is also a dedicated chamber musician and a popular soloist with the Symphony Silicon Valley.

Currently, Ms. Mok serves as the Coordinator of Keyboard Studies at San Jose State University, where she was named President’s Scholar in 2016. Her educational background includes studies at the Juilliard School of Music, Yale University, and the State University of New York at Stony Brook.

The San Francisco International Piano Festival proudly presents the debut recital of the acclaimed pianist and composer, Asiya Korepanova. Known for her virtuosic skill and emotional depth, Ms. Korepanova will perform a program that showcases her original transcriptions, beginning with a tribute to the festival's featured composer, Gabriel Fauré.

Asiya Korepanova is celebrated for her comprehensive repertoire, which includes over 60 piano concertos and solo works spanning from the Baroque period to contemporary compositions. She is the only pianist to have performed the complete solo piano works of Rachmaninoff within the composer’s 150th-anniversary year in 2023. Her performances are noted for their emotional intensity and technical brilliance, earning her repeated engagements and widespread admiration.

In addition to her prowess as a pianist, Ms. Korepanova is also a recognized composer, visual artist, and poet. Her transcriptions of major works, such as Richard Strauss’ "Ein Heldenleben" and Mussorgsky's "Songs and Dances of Death," have solidified her reputation as a formidable transcriber. Her recent compositions include the world premiere recording of her concerto for alto saxophone and piano, "Poéme," and the premiere of her Piano Quintet "I marvel at the sky."

Season 7 will celebrate music and influence of Gabriel Fauré and his contemporaries, running the gamut of familiar masterpieces to rare gems and first performances. The artistic lineup will see the return of beloved Bay Area luminaries, as well as festival and San Francisco debuts.

The festival will once again collaborate with Old First Concerts in presenting our Solo Recital Series, and the McKee Masterclasses will return, connecting veteran artists with the extraordinary up and coming pianists of the Bay Area. Artistic partners include include Young Chamber Musicians, Lieder Alive!, and the American Liszt Society.
