The San Francisco International Piano Festival, founded in 2017, has quickly become a significant event in the piano music community. Recognized by Pianist Magazine in 2019 as one of the top 20 music festivals globally, it is celebrated for its innovative and diverse programming. The festival features a mix of contemporary and classical repertoire, vocal and instrumental chamber music, and solo piano performances. It collaborates with various co-presenting organizations such as Old First Concerts, Noontime Concerts, and Young Chamber Musicians, hosting events at venues chosen for their acoustics and ambiance. Notable performers include mezzo-soprano Kindra Scharich and the Telegraph Quartet. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the festival adapted by offering free virtual and hybrid events. In 2022, it returned to live performances, highlighting J.S. Bach’s Well-Tempered Clavier and premiering Kurt Erickson’s 17:22. The festival is now a 501(c)(3) organization, allowing it to accept tax-deductible contributions.
