Bartok’s Second Violin Concerto is infused with the spirit of his native Hungarian folk music. Elgar wrote odes to the people in his life by inscribing movements in his compositions with initials that hint of their identities.

After a year of working on preparing a completely American music program for our tour to Portugal and Spain, the Symphony Tacoma Voices turns our musical interest to global music, and globally inspired music from our region. We will perform works composed for our world’s finest choirs as we celebrate traditions and musical styles from around the world. We will also feature music that demonstrates how music from around the globe influences American music.
