Conductor David Robertson, an American music visionary, returns to SPAC for the first time over a decade leading the orchestra in a dazzling evening of Tchaikovsky featuring the 1812 Overture with live canon fire and a brilliant fireworks display. Pianist and International Tchaikovsky Competition silver medalist George Li makes his Philadelphia Orchestra and SPAC debut performing the Piano Concerto No. 1.

Superstar American pianist George Li returns to perform Beethoven’s brilliant “Emperor” Concerto following his triumphant ISO debut. Fabien Gabel conducts the revolutionary Prelude to Wagner’s Tristan and Isolde, a piece that shattered conventions and forever changed the arc of music history. The concert opens with boisterous preludes from each act of Engelbert Humperdinck’s opera Königskinder.

Rachmaninoff’s Third Piano Concerto churns with uber-romantic melodies and Unsuk Chin’s music delights in contrasts. Copland’s last symphony, ringing with bells and brass, brings us home.
