Jill Johnson is one of Sweden's most loved artists with a wide repertoire. For over 25 years, she and popular conductor Anders Berglund have been friends, and now they are starting their Christmas tour in our concert hall together with the Malmö Symphony Orchestra. Britta Persson is back with new music for children and adults, while making her debut as a writer. Both the record and the collection of poems bear the name "Alla är barn" - and the twelve tracks consist of timeless melodies and precise arrangements.

We dedicate this concert to themBlockbusters, to the fixed stars of the film world we may never stop loving. For example, the 80's Die Hard and Aliens via the 90's with Terminator 2 and Jurassic Park up to the 2000's Lord of the Rings, Avatar, The Avengers.

When the sound waves of Johannes Brahms' Ein deutsches Requiem embrace the soul, a musical portal to the transcendent opens. Composed between 1865 and 1868, this requiem is written with emotions ranging from consolation to hope. A unique feature is Brahms' decision to use German text, taken from the German Bible, which gives the work a personal and almost meditative character.

The spring of 2024 marks a long-awaited return to the stage with the new performance "Pernilla Wahlgren's Happy Ending" - The first farewell tour. A Thursday concert where the symphony orchestra's wind players are in the spotlight in a meeting between modern and classical. Meet Håkan Hardenberger as conductor together with MSO's own trumpet soloist Gustav Melander.

The cube is transformed this evening into a salsa club! The evening in honor of Gilito y su Clave gives a concert that we dare to promise will make even the most shy dance. The band is described as "the best you can hear outside of Cuba" and frontman Gil is one of the biggest in the world in "la timba cubana".

He has been called the Baghdad-Beatle and was one of the first musicians in the Middle East to introduce rock instruments to Arabic music. Musically, Ilham al-Madfai has always been a trailblazer and we are very proud to present him as one of our biggest acts during the Malmö Folk Festival. You meet him in our concert hall together with the world-famous dance company Enkidu.

Merit Hemmingson is an 82-year-old matriarch, composer, organist and singer. Since the 1960s, she has created a personal and distinctive musical expression, where jazz, groove rock and folk music meet. Now she comes to Malmö Live as part of the Malmö Folk Festival.

Klara Källström is a cellist and folk musician. In her trio project, together with Ingrid Rodebjer and Alexander Wallin, we get to hear her own compositions inspired by repetitive traditions from both folk music and art music. Music that, with evocative strings and clear voices, describes the nuances of everyday life, which in turn embroiders the fabric of life's big questions.

The Swedish star composer Jacob Mühlrad comes to our concert hall for a meeting with the Malmö Symphony Orchestra. During the evening, Jacob Mühlrad's works will be performed, everything from symphonic works to music for theatre, music for film and more. Rigmor is one of Sweden's and Europe's most prominent and popular jazz artists with an impressive career behind him. She has been awarded several prestigious prizes, including the Royal Academy's Jazz Prize, Sveriges Radio's Gold Cat, and the Litteris et artibus medal from His Majesty the King. Her album "Alone With You", a collection of her own compositions, was awarded a Grammy, and three of her albums have achieved Gold status.

What would a superhero be without superhero music? In this concert you get to meet Nalle in the world of heroes. What makes a superhero, and what does it mean to have real heroism? Do you have to be big or is it perhaps enough to show concern for others? Winnie the Pooh also wants to be a superhero and enlists the help of a group of brave, mischievous and kind-hearted heroes who help him find his inner strength.

In the midst of musical triumph and majesty, the orchestra opens the gate to an epic tale of the hero's quest. Next, we immerse ourselves in Richard Strauss' Ein Heldenleben, where the solo violin appears as the hero figure itself. The orchestra creates soundscapes that resemble dramatic scenes and battles, where musical themes become different chapters in an epic saga. The children get to explore yoga together with a yoga teacher in a playful way. We start with breathing and then challenge the body and release energy through simple exercises and movements. Finally, we unwind with visualization and guided relaxation. Musicians from the Malmö Symphony Orchestra play in the meantime and create a profound experience for the children together with the instructor.

The meditation concerts are back - a long-awaited experience for those who want to turn their gaze inward and focus on the soul with the help of the power of music. This time our musical guide is Patrik Berger's experimental, warped and floating project Hög Sjö. In Hög Sjö, Patrik Berger returns to his prog roots together with Jonas Pettersson, and during the concert he will improvise the music specifically for the audience in the Cube.

Rachmaninoff's final masterpiece, Symphonic Dances, is like a swan song over Romanticism as he began to approach the end of his musical journey. In Hanna Kendall's The Spark Catchers, we meet the story of women in a match factory fighting for better working conditions, but with Bernstein, love and gang relations become the spark that ignites.

In this year's Melodifestival, the sing-along song "QueSera" settled in the hearts of the people and the song is on repeat at home in many families. The hit song "Miss Decibel" , which was named the summer plague of 2013, has made a comeback with a new generation of listeners.

Later this year they return to Sweden for three concerts - September 13 at the Konserthuset in Gothenburg, September 14 at Stockholm Waterfront and September 17 at Malmö Live!

After her solo debut with the Gothenburg Symphony in 2023, the citizens of Gothenburg have taken the prized Swedish violinist Ava Bahari to their hearts. We hear Stravinsky's neoclassical and playfully melodic violin concerto, where each movement begins with a sharp chord that seems to say: Stop - now it begins!

The season kicks off with a visit from the American conductor star Roderick Cox. With 2022 Soloist Prize winner Alva Holm as soloist in Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto in E minor, an intense late summer concert is on offer. We are thrown straight into the drama with Samuel Coleridge-Taylor's Ballad in A minor, an orchestral gem that captures the depth and sensitivity of romance.

Now, Malmo Live Concert Hall and Geshgore present Infruset – Själens skrubbsår in a new setting: at the beautiful arena Dalhalla in Rättvik, located in the northern parts of Sweden.

The music from Infruset-Själens scrubbsår is based on Mando Diao's celebrated album in Swedish with settings of Gustaf Fröding's poems in the collection Strövtåg i hembygden. (The song which in 2022 also received the award " Svensktoppen's best song of all time"). The Song Treasure from the production includes Karin Boye's poetry, Mikis Theodorakis' powerful music and also music/texts by Björn's parents Hans Dixgård and Malin Holmlin. In the center is Björn Dixgård, who shares the stage with the iconic Arja Saijonmaa, the mello shooting star Jacqline and our young talent Hugo Hybinette Ermedahl from Malmö.

Skåne's Youth Symphony Orchestra is an orchestra and choir for students from all of Skåne's cultural schools. Through SKUSO, everyone is offered an equal chance to play and sing in a context that for many is not available at home.

Like a sunny day in the Czech Republic, full of joy and harmony, Antonín Dvořák's Serenade for Winds opens the evening's concert. The orchestra paints pictures of the simplicity and beauty of the countryside through playful melodies. Schönberg's Verklärte Nacht was inspired by Richard Dehmel's poem of the same name, where the power of love transforms the night into something transfigured. The poem explores complex emotions and themes around love and forgiveness, which is reflected in Schönberg's musical interpretation. These works represent extremes in the evolution of music and come together for a contrasting evening. As a musical bridge between these works, the Adagio from the String Quintet by Bruckner is played - here in a version for string orchestra

All The Best are the songs that B-2 fans are always waiting for, made with the original arrangements preserved, but with the use of modern technology. That's how they are recorded in the new compilation and that's how they will be performed on tour: favourite hits, perfect sound plus the emotions of a live concert - in short, Bi-2 at its best!

Ethel Smyth's Serenade in D invites us to a sunny day by the sea. The romantic lightness of her composition leads us to John Pickard's The Flight of Icarus, where the sea witnesses Icarus' dramatic flight and fall. The Flight of Icarus is not only a mythological story but also an ecological warning. Through Pickard's work, the sea becomes not only a scene but also a voice that speaks for the vulnerability of nature and the need to protect our planet.

We explore the diversity of the sea during this Saturday concert through two masterful works. Ethel Smyth's Serenade in D invites us to a sunny day by the sea, filled with joy and harmony. The romantic lightness of her composition leads us on to Benjamin Britten and Four Sea Interludes from Peter Grimes .

Get in the Christmas spirit with family and friends when the Malmö Symphony Orchestra invites you to a traditional Christmas concert with popular Christmas classics, elves, sparkling popsicles and surprises. There is something here for all ages! In addition, an atmospheric Lucia train enters and fills the hall with its beautiful song.

Fabien Gabel leads the jubilee this gala evening, which begins with a festive surprise – a specially commissioned work by Ylva Fred for this historic concert. Then we give Rolf Martinsson's brilliant trumpet concerto Bridge, where virtuosity and lyrical beauty are united in Håkan Hardenberger's solo.

The prelude to Richard Wagner's Tristan und Isolde opens the door to a world of passion and the enchantment of love. The Swedish world soprano aria Bengtsson visits us for the first time in Richard Strauss's Vier letzte Lieder, where her voice paints shades of reflection and parting.

Prokofiev's first symphony, born in the modernist soundscape of the 20th century, is like a color explosion of playful rhythms and bold harmonies. Here, the young composer breaks conventions and paves the way for his own genius. In contrast, Brahms'  Symphony No. 1 rises like a colossus of the Romantic era. After a long wait and under clear Beethoven influence, Brahms forges powerful themes and dramatic tensions. Each note is a declaration of a composer's step into the symphonic tradition. The evening begins, however, with another one, namely Johan Hugosson's diploma work , Yggdrasil – the tree of life.

Marie Samuelsson's Love Triology is like three paintings on a sound canvas. In Aphrodite, the goddess of love is portrayed, not as a myth, but as a contemporary heroine of passion and freedom. Rainer Honeck offers a full evening with Haydn, not only as a conductor, but also as a violin soloist. The composer's second violin concerto opens the evening. Then the mood shifts to Symphony No. 45, where the movements paint an emotional tableau. The final movement of the farewell symphony , where the musicians gradually leave the stage, creates an intense feeling of longing.

Conductor Alondra de la Parra invites you to a jazzy classic, or classic jazz? The evening starts with Gabriela Ortiz's Téenek, a colorful fusion of Mexican tradition and contemporary classical music. Pianist Thomas Enhco, rooted in both jazz and classical music, then takes us into Ravel's world with the Piano Concerto in G major . Enhco explores the contrasts in Ravel's concerto and connects the worlds of the two composers.

Nalle meets the great composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and learns about his life and music. Who really was Mozart? What does a composer do and can Winnie also learn to create music, just like Mozart? It turns out that Mozart was both playful and a bit mischievous, just like Winnie the Pooh. The concert offers several of Mozart's beloved works from his symphonic repertoire.
