Other selections include Sebelius' Finlandia, John Williams' Olympic Fanfare and Theme, and a piece by Vaughn Williams.

The Desert Community Orchestra is pleased to present an evening of Irish classics. Tickets are available on Eventbrite, Red Rock Books, and at the door. The orchestra’s selections will feature an array of Christmas melodies, including favorites such as Sammy Cahn’s “Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow!”, and the classic “Sleigh Ride “. Children in the audience will be delighted by “Here Comes Santa Claus” and selections from the Polar Express, as well as by a special visitor from the North Pole! This concert will also feature our own Ridgecrest Mayor Eric Bruen narrating a beautiful winter journey through the Lapland countryside. Other special guests will include vocalist David Hodgson, Burroughs Madrigals, Methodist Men’s Choir, The Ridgecrest Youth Symphony, and guitarist Jeff Welsh.

A Christmas in Ridgecrest

Time travel back to the 60s to the iconic hits and vibe of the day. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. Show starts at 7:00 p.m. The performance will be held at the Desert Empire Fairgrounds Desert Valleys Hall. Admission is free and donations are warmly appreciated. Please bring a lawn chair for seating and a picnic basket full of your own refreshments. Chairs are also available. “Hippie attire” is welcome as the orchestra members will be dressed in their favorite hip outfits. The concert theme is “Flower Power” and the orchestra will present an array of hits from some of the greatest artists of the ‘60s. A few of the selections include “The Best Of The Beatles”, “All You Need Is Love”, and “Yellow Submarine”. A Tribute to the Doors is in the line up, as well as “Overture From Tommy” by The Who. Stevie Wonder’s “You Are The Sunshine Of My Life”.

"Flower Power" Pops Concert

This concert will be in the Parker Performing Arts Center at Burroughs High School. It will feature Riley Mason, our Young Artist Competition Winner on the Marimba playing Czardas by Monti. Other selections will include music by Rimsky-Korsakov, Stravinsky, and Faure. Concert at 4:00 pm with doors opening at 3:30. Open seating.

"A Touch of Class 2023"

This concert will feature special guest violinist, Bethany Grace Folsom. Bethany is currently a member of the Hutchins Consort. This group is a violin octet that performs eight scaled violins designed and built by the famed Dr. Carleen Hutchins. Ms. Folsom also performs regularly with Larisa Stow and the Shakti Tribe, an American new age and pop-rock band from Long Beach, California that fuses Western and Eastern music with English and Sanskrit mantra.
