The final concerts are both the finale of the four-year funding program for scholarship holders in the orchestral conducting category and a possible preliminary stage for the German Conducting Award 2024. A whole hit parade of strong pieces from the classical-romantic repertoire runs through the evening. At the center, of course: dance pieces from symphonies, opera and ballet. Polka? Waltz! Film classics brought back to life! Every season, the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra celebrates the 100th anniversary of a legendary silent film. In 2025, they will continue the multimedia series for eyes and ears with the live-to-projection performance of a veritable cinematographic icon of the horror genre: The Phantom of the Opera, directed by Rupert Julian, first shown in New York in 1925 and today recognized by the Library of Congress as "particularly valuable in terms of cultural history". At the time, the film was already the second film adaptation of the French novel Le Fantome de l'Opéra by Gaston Leroux. The gruesome Phantom has now wreaked havoc on the screen a dozen times. But only Rupert Julian's adaptation became a cinematic classic - not least thanks to Lon Chaney in the title role, the US actor and make-up artist also known as "The Man with a Thousand Faces". In 1996, Carl Davis, who sadly passed away in 2023, composed a new soundtrack, opulently orchestrated with a large apparatus, including an organ. Am Pult: die 1988 in Saarbrücken geborene Dirigentin Ruth Reinhardt, die vor allem in den USA, aber auch in Europa schon große Karriere machte. Ganz nebenbei ist sie seit 2020 auch Saarlandbotschafterin. Brahms und Hindemith zählen zu ihren Favoriten. Und die dirigiert sie auch bei uns. He has brought a work to Nuremberg that allows him to pull out all the stops of the Meistersingerhalle organ and his own art of organ playing. It is the breathtaking, overwhelming, but rarely heard in this country, organ symphony by the US national classic Aaron Copland, composed in the "Roaring Twenties". And the two concert suites present these hits in interrupted order. Old? New! Hits like Unforgettable, LOVE and Autumn Leaves made him world famous - to this day he is considered one of the best jazz artists of all time. Mariano Castro, pianist, arranger and composer from Argentina, brings these magnificent tunes back to life together with his fellow singer Luiza Zan. An evening to dream and enjoy!

Look forward to a nostalgic homage to the successful TV show of the same name that aired on German television in the 1970s. Can you think of stars like Harald Juhnke, Peter Alexander or Udo Jürgens? The golden age of pop music is coming to life again! These and many other names are synonymous with a time when the melodies were catchy, the presentation elegant and the moderation witty and charming - a mixture that is rarely seen today. One person who can do all of this is entertainer Volker Heißmann. At his side is Thilo Wolf. Music is trump!

MUSIC IS TRUMP! Juhnke, Jürgens, Alexander

This year, fans of classical concerts can look forward to a very special French-Spanish touch. The focus of the evening is the guitar and with it the grandiose super hit by the Spaniard Joaquín Rodriguez, his Concierto de Aranjuez . The concert was composed in Paris and embodies the Spanish sound with jazz overtones like no other. It is flanked by two very different works of French literature: Ravel's Tombeau de Couperin , a homage to French music of the 18th century, and Bizet's symphonic debut, which is bursting with summery lightness, inventiveness and exuberance. Don't miss it!

As every year, we are delighted to welcome the professionals of tomorrow, the young students at the Nuremberg University of Music who have set out to reach the top. Under the direction of Professor Guido Johannes Rumstadt, they present impressive solo concerts and orchestral works. It is always a reason to be amazed at what these promising talents are capable of. Are you amazed too?!

Now it is finally becoming a reality: Nuremberg's most beautiful open-air venue is being transformed into an oriental oasis to celebrate the diverse culture of Turkey in the open air. In addition to the authentic Turkish sounds, accompanied by lush orchestral sound, there is real folk dancing that reflects the different regions and the long history of Turkish culture. Even the food and drinks offered in the catering come from the country on the Bosporus. In Turkey, people love to celebrate - celebrate with us!

Does Johann Strauss come to mind when you think of "lively music from Vienna"? Then you're like most of us! Even 200 years after his birth, his melodies are so popular and well-known that an entire dynasty is named after them. We celebrate the real "King of the Waltz" and many of his colleagues who inspired him or were inspired by him with a wonderful serenade full of verve and good humor. One almost wishes that this wonderful time had never ended.

The absolute highlight of every summer is coming up: cinema for the ears - now a real classic in the Serenadenhof! Once again, he takes the audience on a musical journey through time through the world of film and television music, which is not only an art form in itself, but often influences the audience more than the images themselves. So with the iconic melodies 2025, which gave their films the right drive, it is time again for the really big emotions - played, of course, by the orchestra that is unrivaled for such a presentation: ear cinema at its best!

BATMAN MEETS GAME OF THRONES Cinema for the ears

And another annual highlight: For many years we have welcomed Bavaria's best jazz band in orchestra formation to the Serenadenhof. A formation in which jazz and swing flow from every pore, as if the young people had eaten it for breakfast. Even if the program remains a surprise in many areas, the fun of jazz and the joy of the crisp sound and swinging style is guaranteed. As always, orchestra leader Harald Rüschenbaum leads the program charmingly. A must for all fans of the smooth big band jazz sound.

Because anyone who has heard the "beautiful voices" in the Serenadenhof knows that the best stage talents in the world come together here for a musical rendezvous. And that is no exaggeration! The careers of the young up-and-coming singers who have performed with us in recent years speak for themselves. Today they can be heard at La Scala in Milan, the New York Met or the Vienna State Opera. So if you want to confidently say "I already know that voice" on your next visit to the opera, then you shouldn't miss this evening!

It must have been a wild time in Berlin in the Golden Twenties. This particularly stirring compilation of swinging melodies, lyrical texts, grotesque stories and dreamy events comes from the heyday of a metropolis when Berlin was the third largest community in the world. Charming in tone and style presented by "Chanteuse internationale" Adrienne Haan. "If I could wish for something...", says a song by Friedrich Hollaender, "then Berlin could have stayed like this," one or two might answer. An evening with lasting resonance!

SWINGING BERLIN A tribute to the 1920S

She is not only a star in and from Nuremberg, but is now a sought-after actress on major national and international musical stages: Roberta Valentini. After last summer's tremendous success, all fans of popular musical theater can look forward to the best and most beautiful things from the world of musicals. Together with her stage colleague Jonas Hein, who is currently causing a sensation in the Cologne Musicaldome, she presents unforgettable melodies, gripping stories, scary moments and lasting emotions with arranger and conductor Bernd Steixner and the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra. Anyone who loves musicals will love this evening!
