De Montfort Hall

Leicester, United Kingdom

De Montfort Hall, located at the edge of Victoria Park in Leicester, has served as a cultural landmark for over a century. Named after Simon De Montfort, the sixth Earl of Leicester, the hall opened on July 21, 1913. It has hosted a diverse array of events, including music concerts, royal visits, comedy shows, graduation ceremonies, and sporting events. Owned and operated by Leicester City Council, the hall remains a vital cultural space. Known for its excellent acoustics, De Montfort Hall has welcomed numerous iconic performers such as The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Ella Fitzgerald, and Adele. The venue also features a unique 6,000-pipe organ, the only surviving example by Leicester's Stephen Taylor and Sons Ltd., gifted by Alfred Corah in 1914. Over the years, it has been home to the Leicester Symphony Orchestra and hosted a residency for London’s Philharmonia Orchestra. De Montfort Hall continues to be a cherished venue, celebrated for its rich history and contribution to the arts.
