Opera Columbus proudly presents "The Marriage of Figaro," a timeless comic masterpiece by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. This opera, regarded as one of the greatest ever written, is a screwball comedy filled with disguises, surprises, and compromises. It brings to life the vibrant and enchanting music of Mozart, marked by glorious arias, tender duets, and the celebrated effervescent overture.

#### Synopsis
"The Marriage of Figaro" is a sequel to "The Barber of Seville" and is based on the French play "La Folle Journée, ou Le Mariage de Figaro" by Pierre-Augustin Caron de Beaumarchais. The story unfolds over one uproarious day as Figaro, the barber of Seville, struggles to marry his bride, Susanna, amidst a series of farcical antics. Identities are concealed, manners are upended, and plots are foiled, involving a vengeful doctor, his matronly housekeeper, and a bumbling teenage page.

  - Bruno Baker is a Latinx NYC-based American/Brazilian multidisciplinary stage director with extensive experience in various opera companies.
- **Conductor:** Dr. Casey Robards
  - Dr. Casey Robards is a Korean adoptee, music director, pianist, and coach known for her sensitive musicality and collaborative leadership.

#### Orchestra
The Columbus Symphony Orchestra will be the orchestra for the 2024-25 season, bringing the music of "The Marriage of Figaro" to life.

"Fiiiigaroooo!" Get ready for a night filled with laughter and iconic music. Directed by Jessica Burton and conducted by Casey Robards, this production features famous moments such as the iconic Overture, "Largo al factotum" (popularized by Bugs Bunny), and "Una voce poco fa." The story follows the escapades of Figaro, the local barber and problem-solver, as he helps Count Almaviva and Rosina outwit her guardian, Dr. Bartolo, in their quest to run away together.

Celebrating 8 years in the beautiful Booth Tarkington Theater in collaboration with The Center for the Performing Arts in Carmel, join us on November 15-17 for one of the greatest comic operas of all time: Rossini’s The Barber of Seville. Led by the company’s first female artistic duo, Director Jessica Burton and Conductor Casey Robards (IO Young Artist Alumna, mentored by James Caraher), this spectacular slap-stick comedy is filled with famous moments that you are sure to recognize, from the iconic Overture to "Largo al factotum" (ala Bugs Bunny fame) and "Una voce poco fa.”

Overture.  It is snowing. The townspeople bustle about in preparation for Christmas.  Children are playing and horsing around.  The women sing a chorus voicing a longing for their lovers.  The girl makes an appearance declaring her great happiness.
