This opera, regarded as one of the greatest ever written, is a screwball comedy filled with disguises, surprises, and compromises. It brings to life the vibrant and enchanting music of Mozart, marked by glorious arias, tender duets, and the celebrated effervescent overture.

#### Synopsis
"The Marriage of Figaro" is a sequel to "The Barber of Seville" and is based on the French play "La Folle Journée, ou Le Mariage de Figaro" by Pierre-Augustin Caron de Beaumarchais. The story unfolds over one uproarious day as Figaro, the barber of Seville, struggles to marry his bride, Susanna, amidst a series of farcical antics. Identities are concealed, manners are upended, and plots are foiled, involving a vengeful doctor, his matronly housekeeper, and a bumbling teenage page.

This landmark 20th-century work, rarely performed by a professional opera company, offers a satiric critique of capitalism and the meaning of morality in the slums. The opera is renowned for its palpable evocation of corruption and dread, set to Kurt Weill’s irresistible score.

The Cooper-Bing is an internationally recognized vocal competition that has celebrated and supported emerging young artists in opera. Dubbed “The Olympics of Opera”, this competition encourages talent, creates artistic opportunity, and helps welcome the next generation into the professional opera community. Five finalists compete for the grand prize of $10,000!
