Despite a reputation as a musical maverick, Ives had tastes that one might consider conservative. He was a big fan of Beethoven and Franck, but had a distaste for the important modernist composer Edgard Varèse.

In a program celebrating the 100th anniversary of George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, Windscape will commission eight of MSM’s composition students to riff on the Rhapsody in a series of two-minute pieces for wind quintet.
