Carlos Kalmar conducts "Spanish" music written by the French composers Claude Debussy and Maurice Ravel and opens the program with Mythic by Elena Kats-Chernin

Experience the enchanting melodies of Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto with the Québec Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Clemens Schuldt and featuring the virtuoso violinist Vadim Gluzman. This extraordinary concert will take place at the Grand Théâtre de Québec on December 4, 2024, at 8:00 PM, and December 5, 2024, at 10:30 AM. 

The evening will be a celebration of musical brilliance, starting with a prelude event where attendees can deepen their understanding of the creative process and the historical context of the compositions. The concert will also feature unique performances by Anouar Barrada with Soufi singing, Didem Başar on the kanun, and Adam Barrada as a whirling dervish, blending the mystical with the classical in an unforgettable experience.

The program includes Makdissi-Warren's "Ainsi chantait Simorgh," a piece that echoes the famous "Thus Spoke Zarathustra" by Richard Strauss, and concludes with a tribute to the orchestra's founder, Joseph Vézina, with his suggestive waltz "La Brise." This performance not only showcases the lyrical enchantment of Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto but also celebrates the rich history and musical diversity of the Québec Symphony Orchestra.
