Daniel ranks among the world’s best cellists and can be heard on all of the foremost international concert stages.
In a career spanning over thirty years, Daniel has produced an impressive
discography, honoured with numerous international awards.

At the age of 15, Daniel won the first prize at the International Tchaikovsky
Competition for Young Musicians in 1992 in Moscow, which launched the start
of his solo career. He plays the ‘Ex Shapiro’ Matteo Goffriller cello, made in Venice in 1727.

The church in Rosenow, built in the mid-19th century in the neo-Gothic style, provides an idyllic setting for the "Young Elite" concert series and performances by promising young artists. Violinist Jeremias Pestalozzi has long been one of these artists. Born in 2005, he began playing the violin at the age of five and was later accepted as a junior student at the Munich University of Music and Performing Arts. Accompanied by Magdalene Ho, winner of the 2024 International German Pianist Award, the current student of violin virtuoso Julia Fischer presents a multifaceted program featuring classics of the violin repertoire.

Rafael Payare is at the helm for what is sure to be a spellbinding RCM Symphony Orchestra concert, featuring Berlioz’ dramatic and passionate Symphonie fantastique as well as Carlos Simon's piece inspired by an entry in Beethoven’s journal, 'Fate Now Conquers', and Beethoven's First Piano Concerto performed by Magdalene Ho.

Berlioz was a Romantic through and through, and the young man at the heart of the Symphonie fantastique’s story might have been the composer himself, his obsessive nature represented by a recurring motif or ‘ideé fixe’. In the opening ‘Reveries, Passions’, Berlioz conjures up what he called ‘volcanic love’, followed by a waltzing ball scene and pastoral interlude. Then come the sinister ‘March to the Scaffold’ and nightmarish ‘Dream of a Witches’ Sabbath’, reflecting what Berlioz described as the key elements of his style: ‘passionate expression, inner warmth, rhythmic impetus and unexpectedness’.
