The work occupies a unique place in Schubert's work, indeed in music literature. It is enigmatic, and it is perfect... No one can fully unravel the musical mystery of this work or put it into words," says music critic Joachim Kaiser. "Shaker Loops" from 1978 is a masterpiece of minimal music and refers to the Shaker religious community, who get themselves into a frenzy through ritual shaking dances.

Music for a piano trio, consisting of violin, cello and piano, has been one of the staples of chamber music since Haydn. The programme includes Haydn’s and Brahm’s well known trios as well as a piece by Turina. This composer combines Romantic abundance and Impressionist sounds with Spanish folklore.
