Juan Perón and his second wife, Eva Duarte, were the most influential people in 20th Century Argentine politics. He came to power in 1946 pushing a populist agenda that made him very successful. Eva, a natural politician, surpassed him in charisma. When she died of cancer in her early 30's, her image became mythical. To this day, politicians across the spectrum try to wrap themselves in her flag in order to succeed. Argentina has lived with this myth for seven long decades. This story is about Perón's third wife and running mate in the 1973 elections, Isabel.  She took over from him when he died in office in 1974, and tried to fashion herself after Evita, with the aid of a close confidant rumored to be a warlock. It didn't work out. In 1976 the military coup that ousted her opened the gates of hell, and through them thirty thousand souls were lost. Raw ambition, black magic in the presidential palace, and the ghosts of Perón and Evita intertwine in this tale, told by someone who witnessed those tumultuous times first hand, set to a ravishing, propulsive score by Argentinean composer Carlos Franzetti. The San Francisco Camerata's recording of Corpus Evita for Amapola Records, conducted by Maestro Moscovich was nominated for a Grammy in 2005.

Angels Vocal Art presents the beloved Puccini classic, TOSCA, in a Gala Performance with full orchestra at the Manoukian Performing Arts Center. A tragedy of passion and jealousy and a roller coaster of love, lust, murder and political intrigue, it tells the story of the tempestuous opera singer Floria Tosca (Jessica Sandidge), as she fights to save her lover Cavaradossi (Todd Wilander) from the sadistic police chief Scarpia (Roberto Perlas Gomez).

It may come to a surprise but it has already been three years since the COVID-19 Pandemic first loomed over the operasphere, impacting the lives of singers everywhere. At its greatest peak and in our darkest hour, a small team at AVA first began working on what would become a tumultuous yet rewarding production of La Voix Humaine. Following the construction of a complete studio from the ground up, many health-compliant rehearsals, and months of sweat and tears, our team of artists were able to present their vision to a select audience in 2021. Two years later, we are finally ready to share the culmination of our diligent passion with the rest of the world.

Letters That You Will Not Get: Women's Voices from the Great War, by composer Kirsten Volness and co-librettists Susan Werbe and Kate Holland, gives voice to American, British, European, Asian, African and Caribbean women affected by WWI through a series of vignettes that share their responses to the war—from enthusiasm to resignation; support to opposition; the war’s beginning to its end. Combining powerful contemporary music with excerpts from women’s writings on both sides of the conflict, Letters tells the story of the Great War as experienced by the women who lived through it.
