Austrian cellist Valerie Fritz combines classical and contemporary music with innovative concert formats. She is a winner of the Berlin Prize for Young Artists, a member of the NAMES ensemble, and this year an ECHO Rising Star. With self-designed programs and in collaboration with contemporary composers, she represents a new, unorthodox generation of musicians.

New Friday is a concert series for the curious listener eager to explore the innovative music of our time. The ensemble Lipparella constantly initiates new collaborations to explore the intersection between the sound world of Baroque instruments and the musical language of our own time. The group often works with singers and instrumentalists in various projects. At this concert, the focus is on the vocal, with soprano Alexandra Büchel – one of Sweden’s leading interpreters of contemporary music – as soloist.

Stockholm Concert Hall

Don’t miss the opportunity to hear the classical stars of tomorrow – today. Rising Stars is a unique and forward-looking collaboration between 23 of Europe’s leading concert halls, all part of ECHO – the European Concert Hall Organisation. Each year, a select group of young artists and ensembles from across Europe are given the chance to tour all of the venues and perform for international audiences. Time and again, the artists chosen for Rising Stars go on to enjoy internationally successful careers.

ECHO Rising Stars with Cello and Piano

Austrian cellist Valerie Fritz loves the extraordinary, the unusual. Even at the beginning of her studies at the Mozarteum Salzburg, she knew that a classical career with the standard repertoire was out of the question for her. Her self-confidence has already taken the young artist far: she has been nominated by the Elbphilharmonie, among others, and is a "Rising Star" in the European Concert Hall Organization (ECHO) season. With accordionist Goran Stevanovich, she explores the spatial, acoustic, and interpersonal aspects of the concert setting with music from Bach to the present day.
