In You Are Not Alone, this 90-strong LGBTQ+ choir performs songs by inspiring artists that explore life’s challenges and celebrate the unbreakable strength to be found in community and within ourselves in troubled times.

Conducted by Olivia Doust, the choir channel queer joy, singing new arrangements of well-known pop, soul and R&B classics alongside contemporary choral music from composers Katerina Gimon, Mari Esabel Valverde, and James Woodhall.

The Academy of St Martin in the Fields joins its Music Director, virtuoso violinist Joshua Bell for a programme featuring Brahms’ magnificent Violin Concerto, showcasing some of Brahms’ richest writing, and Schumann’s vibrant, energetic and joyful ‘Spring’ Symphony No. 1 – both directed by Joshua from the violin.

The programme will also include Kevin Puts’ extraordinary Earth – a contribution to Joshua’s Elements project, consisting of five new commissions shaped around water, air, fire, space and earth. Shaped around a four-note ostinato and lyrical phrases that are traded between the violin and orchestra, Puts’ work is an example of the stability and endurance of this element, as well as acting as a reverent tribute to planet Earth.

Destiny’s shadow hangs powerfully over Tchaikovsky’s last symphony: nine days after he conducted its premiere in St Petersburg, the composer was dead. He was 53 years old.

His doctors blamed his mysterious death on cholera, contracted from drinking unboiled water. But whether he drank that glass deliberately remains the subject of intense debate.

Odyssey explores Tchaikovsky’s psychology through the last two big orchestral works he completed. One, a light-hearted piece of brilliant balletic fantasy, the other this melancholic symphony, which he described as being “saturated with myself” and the best thing he would ever write.

Guitar icon Tommy Emmanuel CGP is no stranger to iconic stages from Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium to Paris’ L’Olympia. The legendary entertainer has dazzled audiences across the world.

Tommy has a Grammy Award, multiple ARIA Awards and countless accolades, but nothing means more to Tommy than the three letters Chet Atkins designated at the end of Tommy’s name: CGP. The title of Certified Guitar Player was the highest honour Atkins could bestow on another player – a signifier that the recipient had not only mastered the instrument but taken it to new vistas and become a guiding light for the next generation of pickers.

The night Benny Goodman and his Orchestra performed at Carnegie Hall in January 1938 is celebrated in this joyous and complete recreation from Pete Long and his Goodmen.

Everything is there – the exciting Big Band swing, the fiery trio and quartet numbers and the famous grand finale Sing Sing Sing, all played with the utmost authenticity that transports you back to this momentous musical event of 80 years ago.
