"Beethoven Wars, a fight for peace" brings these two worlds together; the animated images projected on a giant screen and the live musical performance of the Namur Symphony Choir and the OPRL offer an immersion into a fantastical world, in the style of a space opera, combining music, science fiction, and manga.

Back in Liège, pianist Piotr Anderszewski devoted himself entirely to Brahms's last works for solo piano. After having abandoned the piano for 13 years to compose his 3rd and 4th Symphonies , numerous lieder and chamber music works, Brahms wrote his pianistic testament during the summers of 1892 and 1893. These 20 pieces ( op. 116 to 119 ), which Brahms nicknamed "lullabies of my suffering", a mixture of pain and serenity, constitute a kind of personal diary in which Clara Schumann saw "an inexhaustible treasure of masterpieces" .

On the occasion of its centenary (it was founded in 1926 by the Swiss conductor, patron, and industrialist Paul Sacher), the prestigious Basel Chamber Orchestra is making its first stop in Liège. A major interpreter of Viennese classicism, it will perform Mozart's Symphony No. 31 , written at the age of 22 in Paris, as well as his emblematic "Turkish" Concerto, with South American violinist Bomsori Kim, a new star on the Deutsche Grammophon label. True to its history of interpreting contemporary works (having premiered pieces by Bartók, Stravinsky, and Honegger), the Orchestra will perform the new work of American composer Mike Svoboda.

At the invitation of its Artistic Director, Renaud Capuçon, the OPRL made its debut with Lionel Bringuier at the Aix-en-Provence Easter Festival, immersing itself in Tchaikovsky's Pathétique Symphony (1893) as he shared his quest for happiness, his emotional breakdown, and his unhappiness. Joined by Emmanuel Pahud, a virtuoso flautist among the world's finest, the Orchestra and its conductor launched into the formidable passages of Khachaturian's Flute Concerto , a work that is at times dramatic and at times exuberant, in which the composer also reveals his Armenian roots.

In 1899, at the age of 25, Schoenberg composed The Transfigured Night , a string sextet inspired by a poem about a couple's nighttime walk on the moor. The woman confesses to the man that she is expecting a child that is not his, but he forgives her and promises to raise the child as his own. Schoenberg gave his consent to the piano trio version that his student Eduard Steuermann would create in 1932. Presented by Guy Lemaire, president of the Friends of the Orchestra, this concert also benefits from the projection of illustrations by Audrey Gallez, interviews with the composer, and surtitles allowing the audience to follow Richard Dehmel's poem.

Lionel Bringuier immerses himself in Tchaikovsky's Pathétique Symphony (1893) as he shares his quest for happiness, his emotional breakdown, and his unhappiness. Rarely has a composer probed the deepest emotions with such acuity, with the heightened sensitivity born of his unspeakable suffering, thus elevating this ultimate masterpiece to the pinnacle of music. The symphony's subtitle, "Pathétique," was aptly given by the composer's brother, Modest, who was aware of all the tensions running through these pages. The OPRL's Music Director will be sure to delve into the heart of this music of extremes during the now traditional encounter at the end of the concert.

Thanks to Mozart, the horn acquired its first letters of nobility at a time when it was considered only as an instrument for hunting and the outdoors. Both noble and joyful, enriched by a slow movement imbued with great tenderness, the Second Concerto (1783) highlights the new head of the OPRL horn section, Margaux Ortman. A mature work, Mozart's Symphony No. 39 (1788) is inspired by the theater, and is similar to Don Giovanni in its incessant quest for colors, the presence of deep and meditative passages, and this ability to shape melodies like true lines of song.
