Lavish dinners, hearty village festivals, birthday parties, and weddings: this is what composers from Mozart's time wrote Harmoniemusik for. Large-scale works for woodwind ensembles with horns and double bass, which were equally effective in the ballroom, the threshing floor, or the village square.
