A string quintet with two cellos? Schubert! A string octet? Mendelssohn! A piano quintet with four winds? Beethoven or Mozart? Yet there is no standard this time: The chamber music season opens with three works of Russian Romanticism, and they show us that Russia is culturally a part of Europe in spite of the current regime's imperialism.
