Listen for the different themes in the music – the thirteen princesses captured by the evil Koschei, the brave Prince Ivan, and the Firebird’s furious dance. And can a lullaby be used to trick someone?

Join the MSO and conductor Ariane Matiakh as they lead you into a magical dream world of animated nature and mythical beings. The young Lili Boulanger, in D’un matin de printemps, depicts how the morning sun awakens the garden to new life during what would become her very last spring, before she passed away at only 24 years old.

Winter Dreams

A shared love of Mozart brought Jean-Efflam Bavouzet and Gábor Takács-Nagy together and led to a long and brilliant collaboration. They now come together for an exquisite program of Viennese classics, with Mozart at the center. His beloved Piano Concerto No. 21 earned its nickname when Bo Widerberg used the bittersweet second movement in the film Elvira Madigan.

When the young star conductor Christian Blex visited MSO in the fall of 2025, an immediate warm and creative energy sparked. Now, as he returns to build Bruckner’s monumental Symphony No. 8 with the orchestra, we are delighted to welcome him as principal guest conductor. The eternal lines of Bruckner’s Eighth seem to suspend time, gradually unfolding through tender passages toward a magnificent climax, where rattling trumpets and thundering timpani seize the listener with overwhelming force.
