Our own brilliant concertmaster Marika Fältskog gently coaxes the lark's poetic flight from her violin in The Lark Ascending by Ralph Vaughan Williams.

Danish Nancy Dalberg is still relatively unknown, but once you get to know her refined music, she easily becomes a favorite. Carl Nielsen was her teacher and supporter, conducting the critically acclaimed premiere of Dalberg's Scherzo for string orchestra . 

Grieg's Piano Concerto

The season ends with world star Peter Mattei offering interpretations of the pain of love and the search for spiritual perfection.

After a disastrous marriage, Pyotr Tchaikovsky seeks peace of mind with his customary abundance of languid, singable melodies in Symphony No. 4 .
