"Before the Dogs" (UA)  is a scenic collage of migrations from Germany to Brazil since the 16th century. The focus is on the German-Brazilian couple Marlene and Rosa. Around them, glimpses of different eras are shed. These are people who left their homeland for a variety of reasons, who (violently) created a new home for themselves, or who simply never felt completely at home.
