For racist reasons, Leonora's father disapproves of her relationship with the stranger Alvaro. The two, however, refuse to let go of each other and decide to flee. In doing so, Alvaro unwittingly becomes the father's murderer. Leonora's brother seeks revenge for his father, and a cycle of violence ensues. La forza del destino is Giuseppe Verdi's most expansive opera: a spectacular portrayal of close family ties in times of war, of the Church, of escapism – like a painting by Brueghel. And no matter how much the protagonists resist, they experience life and the world as determined by fate, without escape and without hope for peace and forgiveness.

The future Nobel laureate Hermann Hesse was in the midst of a life crisis when, in 1917, he wrote Demian in a three-week burst of intense writing , publishing it under the pseudonym Emil Sinclair. In it, he describes his coming of age: he experiences humiliations, breaks free from the constraints of his strict upbringing, endures bouts of alcoholism, idealizes a first love, and ultimately finds himself in a World War I military hospital. The older student Demian repeatedly appears at his side, guiding and supporting him in his questions about the connection between good and evil and in his search for his own identity. For both know: the collapse of Europe is imminent, and its rebirth requires new values.

The king returns victorious from the Trojan War, but a broken man. As spoils of war, Agamemnon brings Cassandra, the prophetess whose visions are never believed. Upon her arrival, she sees blood flowing.

Until We Run Out of Air depicts a bleak future in which Earth has become uninhabitable and the last humans live in the bunker "Gaia." There, a strictly hierarchical society has formed: the privileged "Butterflies" rule over the "Bees" and the exploited "Ants." The play centers on political and social upheaval. The younger generation, in particular, begins to question inequality and oppression. While a rebellion grows among the ants, their leader, Heinrich Gölderli, tries to secure his power by force. But when his own daughter joins the rebels and befriends the schoolgirl Simone, the patriarchal system begins to crumble.

Once upon a time, there was a kingdom where two royal children grew up in peace… But suddenly, terrible things began to happen: herds of animals disappeared and fields were devastated. No one could explain the sudden turmoil. So the two children decided to get to the bottom of the mystery.

Sergeant Studer has arrested Erwin Schlumpf and taken him to prison, but he doesn't believe Schlumpf is the perpetrator. But who killed salesman Wendelin Witschi? Against the wishes of the authorities, Studer begins his own investigation and becomes entangled in a web of familial and political intrigue. Swiss author Friedrich Glauser wrote the five Sergeant Studer mysteries during the last three years of his life—a period marked by legal guardianship, drug addiction, and stays in psychiatric institutions—and achieved literary fame in the process. In August, his Sergeant will once again be investigating at Villa Morillon.
