Mendelssohn used inspiration from his travels to Britain to develop the folk-like tunes and rhythms found in his famous “Scottish” symphony. Allene Hackleman, ESO Principal Horn since 2004, will be featured as the soloist for Mozart’s triumphant concerto, which he playfully (and mysteriously) wrote in black, red, green, and blue ink.
