When the sound waves of Johannes Brahms' Ein deutsches Requiem embrace the soul, a musical portal to the transcendent opens. Composed between 1865 and 1868, this requiem is written with emotions ranging from consolation to hope. A unique feature is Brahms' decision to use German text, taken from the German Bible, which gives the work a personal and almost meditative character.
