Like a sunny day in the Czech Republic, full of joy and harmony, Antonín Dvořák's Serenade for Winds opens the evening's concert. The orchestra paints pictures of the simplicity and beauty of the countryside through playful melodies. Schönberg's Verklärte Nacht was inspired by Richard Dehmel's poem of the same name, where the power of love transforms the night into something transfigured. The poem explores complex emotions and themes around love and forgiveness, which is reflected in Schönberg's musical interpretation. These works represent extremes in the evolution of music and come together for a contrasting evening. As a musical bridge between these works, the Adagio from the String Quintet by Bruckner is played - here in a version for string orchestra
