Join us as sweet sounds and stories are woven together with award-winning soloist Kathrin Lorenzen. 

Inspired by a rose perfume, Karen Tanaka created the ethereal veils of sound in Rose Absolute, which are followed by the pearly grace of Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 23 with pianist Steven Osborne at the keyboard. In Symphony No. 4 , Gustav Mahler promises heavenly delights with bells and cheerful flutes and naive verses taken from Des Knaben Wunderhorn . Kathrin Lorenzen sings of dancing with angels and richly laid tables with delicacies from the heavenly garden.

Together with the Malmö Symphony Orchestra, we return to the most powerful film music. Experience epic leitmotifs from the blockbusters we all love! The evening is hosted by comedians Tomas Kaminski and Elvira Gullis Gullberg. 

If film is best in the cinema, then film music is best live – preferably with the mighty Malmö Symphony Orchestra. For this concert, we have handpicked some of the most well-known and epic themes from the American film industry.

Welcome to a pleasant evening with heavenly harmonies and tempo changes in a full evening with Mozart and Honeck. 

It begins at a furious pace with the overture to The Marriage of Figaro, before Symphony No. 39 takes us on a musical journey of pleasure that alternates between energetic excitement and pleasurable rest.

Malin Nyström (violin), Einar Öhman (french horn) and Francisca Skoogh (piano) come together in a program that combines British elegance, contemporary expression and romantic weight. Lennox Berkeley's Trio from 1952 opens the concert with three movements. This is followed by Lera Auerbach's T'filah / Lonely Suite for solo violin – a work where introspection and strong presence are at the center.

With Samuel Lee at the helm, we are transported from Tanaka's life-affirming waters through the city's changing moods to Dvořák's beloved ninth. 


Young South Korean conductor Samuel Lee, winner of the prestigious Malko Competition 2024, is a guest at the MSO in a program that explores different aspects of our life on earth.

From the New World

Leave the city and follow the living tones of nature on a dramatic journey towards paradise with Beethoven and Brabbins. 

When Beethoven was allowed to go out into the country, he was immediately in a good mood. Join chief conductor Martyn Brabbins out into nature where we can join the happy composer in the Pastoral Symphony and enjoy the babbling brook where the nightingale sings its trill. Our own brilliant concertmaster Marika Fältskog gently coaxes the lark's poetic flight from her violin in The Lark Ascending by Ralph Vaughan Williams.

Danish Nancy Dalberg is still relatively unknown, but once you get to know her refined music, she easily becomes a favorite. Carl Nielsen was her teacher and supporter, conducting the critically acclaimed premiere of Dalberg's Scherzo for string orchestra . 

Grieg's Piano Concerto

Rainer Honeck offers a full evening with Haydn, not only as a conductor, but also as a violin soloist. The composer's second violin concerto opens the evening. Then the mood shifts to Symphony No. 45, where the movements paint an emotional tableau. The final movement of the farewell symphony , where the musicians gradually leave the stage, creates an intense feeling of longing.
